Buy local...
Learn how to ask whether goods are locally-produced in French and Darija. When you have the information from sellers, you are better able to make local choices. By asking, you are also signalling to shops and traders your interest in buying local.
Look for alternatives to the supermarket imports where possible... Try local alternatives such as amlou for peanut butter, argan oil for imported skin creams.
Local products that are available include not only fresh and dried fruit, vegetables and herbs - and of course fish! - but also wine and beer.

Eat vegan...
Lots of traditional Moroccan dishes are vegan - e.g. the harira soup that's often sold on the streets, or the chickpeas and beans also sold from tureens.
For vegan energy ball snacks (as well as smoothies and other goodies), try the Tamouziga Bio kiosk on rue Al Atarine in the medina. Their opening times are on their Facebook page.
Vegan milk (oat, almond, soya, rice, coconut etc.) is available at both the Carrefour and Aswak Assalam supermarkets and also (more expensive but maybe more convenient) at the small Patisserie Boujemaa grocery store in the medina on the corner by the Patisserie Driss. You can also try to make your own oat milk at home (e.g. this recipe) and oats are easy and cheap to come by in the bulk stores in the market. The two big supermarkets also have vegan cheese.
